As cliche as it sounds, Studio Collins literally began in a garage. A move to Texas, a husband starting dental school, and a baby on the way, all had Tara looking for ways to support her growing family. While visiting a flea market in the quaint little town of Wimberley, Texas, she made a chance purchase of a small Swedish side table that had been thoughtfully refurbished. It was this table that inspired the beginnings of her own furniture restoration business that soon took over the family’s garage.
Combining her love of architecture with a keen eye for choosing pieces with great lines (and of course in need of a little TLC), Tara began restoring furniture and incorporating these pieces into friends and clients homes. The rest, as they say, is history.
Although her design aesthetic has evolved through the years, Tara’s signature style still takes its cues from pieces grounded in nature and history. Thoughtfully simplistic. Timelessly fresh. Earthy. Organic. Personal. Inspiring. These are the things she believes make a house a home.
The first step in determining a good designer/client relationship is the initial meeting, outlining the scope and expectations of both parties. Whether it’s a small remodel or an entirely new build, we want to open clear lines of communication upfront, which ensures a smooth process from beginning to end.
